At Sifchain we launched an Omnichain Decentralized Exchange. This is a unique technical undertaking that continues to attract interest and excitement from a multitude of well known investors in the blockchain sphere. In fact, the private sale round was oversubscribed within two days of its announcement. Investors recognize that our offering has unique benefits over both CEXes and existing DEXes, and has the potential to fundamentally change the DeFi ecosystem. The team is led by a blockchain architect from Thorchain, which raised its liquid market cap from $1M to over $3B in three years.
The core engineering team at Sifchain is looking for a talented Data Scientist to do foundational development work by helping to define and deliver against a coherent product roadmap.
As a Data Scientist focused on cryptoeconomic simulations, you would have a hand in the design, implementation, deployment, and support of our Sifchain analytics and modeling services. As a member of the cryptoeconomics team, you would work on financial and economic modeling, simulating the effects of various potential cryptoeconomic features to help blockchain engineers implement and test them on-chain, as well as to help the Sifchain community understand how they function.
As a Sifchain team member, you would be responsible for creating technically viable software with a team of senior engineers specializing in devops, distributed systems, system architecture, testing, and other related fields. You would be collaborating with some of the most diligent minds in the cryptocurrency industry on product direction, both on the core Sifchain team and among its partners, investors, and advisors. As an early team member, you must feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where the solutions aren’t already predefined.
Prior experience with blockchain projects is helpful but we are primarily interested in capacity to grow into the role. You should have prior experience in developing high-quality data science experiments and discrete event simulations, with some passing knowledge of how such experiments can be applied to economic and financial data sets.
Prior Experience and qualifications:
- M.S. or higher in Engineering, Robotics, Operations Research, Economics or related field
- Masters Level Course work in Optimization and/or Decision Science
- 4+ years research experience in Industry or Academia
- Advanced Numerical Computing skills (Matlab, Python, R)
- Advanced Mathematical Analysis skills (ability to write formal proofs)
- Proficient with data manipulation and visualization
- Proficient with LaTeX mathematical typesetting language
- Good presentation and communication skills—visual and verbal
- Ability work with a heterogeneous team to achieve a common goal
Responsibilities include:
- Lead system level complex discrete event simulation and agent-based projects to build, simulate, and optimize cryptoeconomic features, primarily using cadCAD
- Track money and information flows, analyze data, design experiments, and effectively contribute to simulations to help peer cryptoeconomists, engineers, and end-users understand cryptoeconomic features
- Digest formal models with complete notation. Identify and characterize analytically the immediate consequences of their definitions and assumptions.
- Understand, evaluate, and propose incentive mechanisms to align local agent goals with system level goals
- Learn and co-develop simulation tools for dynamical systems representing the evolution of economic systems at various levels of detail from agent based to macroeconomic
- Use data analysis tools to evaluate experimental results and make recommendations regarding the assumptions and conditions under which a particular set of incentives will be adequate to achieve the stated goal of the economic system
- Use data analysis tools to evaluate data collected directly from economic networks to verify that the intended dynamics are emerging, and to recommend tuning system parameters as needed
- Support in the design and development of economic health indicators and operational analytics
- Provide reports and/or requirements documents to stakeholders
- Partner with product, engineering, marketing, finance and other relevant stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and answer the most important questions where analytics and modeling will have a material impact.
- Develop with sound testing and debugging practices
- Create and well-commented code for open source consumption and iteration, especially including lab notebooks
- Participate in open source development on shared resources with external development
- Industry competitive salary
- Unlimited time off
- Subsidized workflow and wellbeing programs
- Commitment to employee development and learning
- Joining a talented and senior blockchain engineering team
- Full time remote (must be able to accommodate PST meeting hours)
- Paid in USDC
