About the Role
The group takes a compliance-first approach when it comes to growing our business into new jurisdictions and adhering to new regulations. This entails building relationships with local regulators and obtaining local licenses wherever it operates or aims to operate. Currently CoinJar is seeking a MiCA licence and building out its EU team from Dublin.
CoinJar is now seeking an experienced and qualified candidate for Head of Finance (PCF-11) to join our Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) in Ireland. As we navigate the new regulatory landscape under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR), this role is crucial in ensuring our financial operations align with regulatory requirements and support our business growth. In this role, you will ensure our financial systems and processes are robust, compliant, and scalable, supporting our long-term vision and strategy.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring our CASP meets the highest standards of financial management and regulatory compliance in the evolving crypto-asset landscape.
Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
- Prepare management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, year-end accounts, and audited financial statements and liaising with auditors.
- Implement and standardise scalable processes for finance cycles, including but not limited to Financial Reporting/Month-End Close, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, and Financial Operations.
- Ensure compliance with MiCAR financial requirements and other relevant regulations
Regulatory Compliance
- Work closely with the Head of Compliance team to meet MiCAR's prudential safeguards and capital requirements
- Assist in preparing financial projections and stress scenarios for regulatory submissions
Operational Oversight
- Manage banking and payment service provider relationships to ensure continuous flow of funds for European clients
- Oversee Treasury functions including assessing daily trading exposure, reconciliation and settlements to trading partners
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA)
- 5 years of experience in senior finance roles within financial services or fintech sector
- Experience with Xero or other accounting software
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, preferably in the financial services or fintech sector with exposure to Irish and EU regulations
- Experience working in and managing financial operations at a global level
- A keen interest or experience with crypto-assets and blockchain technology
- Willingness to undergo Central Bank of Ireland's Pre-Approval Controlled Function (PCF) assessment
- Attention to detail and ability to present financial data clearly and concisely
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to contribute effectively to cross-functional projects
