At Babylon, we are at the forefront of web3 innovation by developing elegant and complex blockchain systems. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will spearhead the complete lifecycle of Babylon PoS networks and performant dApps.
About You
You are a seasoned DevSecOps engineer who is highly adaptable and thrives on wearing many hats. You have a strong security background and experience in owning security inside DevOps teams whilst ensuring alignment with the overall company security strategy.
You love learning from others, as well as helping them out. You are a team player, direct and open-minded. You strive to deliver, have high work standards and are a responsible individual.
What You’ll Do
You will be the owner of security within the DevOps team and act as a liaison between the DevOps and the Security team.
Your responsibilities will include topics such as:
- Implementing zero trust and least-privilege access policies for workloads
- Implement and maintain security tooling and automation in service and infrastructure pipelines
- Securing critical production credentials and cryptographic key material
- Ensuring utmost security for our web application infrastructure
- Driving the design and implementation of audit logging and alerting pipelines as well as security monitoring systems
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all stages of the software development lifecycle.
You will infuse a security-first mindset in the day-to-day DevOps work as well as the long-term DevOps decisions and planning.
On top of that, you will contribute to the workload of the DevOps team, which includes a fusion of DevOps, Site Reliability and Platform engineering tasks:
- Own the onboarding process of services to production infrastructure
- Strive for high uptime and swift incident resolution for live services, with an increased focus on security incidents
- Operate scalable Kubernetes clusters and several in-house platform offerings
- Collaborate closely with other teams to drive bug identification and resolution, as well as advocate for the adoption of production-ready practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with the web3 threat landscape, with the ability to develop threat models, recommend solutions and articulate security trade-offs when designing controls
- Experience with designing infrastructure and service security pipelines using cloud security tools (e.g. SIEM, CSPM/CWPP), as well as identifying infrastructure security vulnerabilities
- Experience with securing critical credential/cryptographic key management (e.g., foundation fund management, air-gapped environments, TEE, HSM)
- Experience in operating containerised web application systems on Kubernetes (web-3 native systems are a plus)
- 2+ years of experience in operating secure Cosmos SDK and Bitcoin infrastructure (additional blockchain ecosystems are a plus)
- Top-3 cloud management experience (AWS preferred)
- Proficiency in Linux management and scripting
- Experience in operating open-source observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)
- Familiarity with Cloudflare and GitHub security
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond swiftly to incidents
- Fluent oral and written communication in English
