The opportunity:
Uphold is looking for a Case Analyst to join our Regional Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), supporting investigations and compliance monitoring. You’ll play a crucial role in identifying suspicious activity, preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and ensuring adherence to federal regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
This is a hybrid role 2x per week in our Tampa, FL location
Primary responsibilities:
- Conducts investigations based on alerts provided by Transaction Monitoring Analysts and
any internal referrals for suspicious activity. - Gather any and all information and documentation for Suspicious Activity Investigations
(SAIs). - Prepares SARs and narrative to provide to Compliance FIU Regional Investigations Lead
for filing. - Performs and/or reviews compliance monitoring activities and testing as outlined in
assigned compliance programs and oversight procedures.
- Reports to the Compliance FIU Regional Investigations Lead on day-to-day activities and
escalates all material deficiencies.
- Conduct high-quality investigations of potentially suspicious activity on the
blockchain, by identifying transaction patterns, trends and typologies impacting Uphold
and its users.
- Conduct comprehensive, high quality end-to-end complex investigations to identify
financial crime patterns, trending, and typologies impacting Uphold and the global user
community.
- Research and analyze current and emerging trends involving cryptocurrency and other
digital assets.
- Reviews new laws and regulations that may affect Uphold or its customers and evaluates
the impact of those changes.
- Conducts and maintains compliance risk assessments.
- Maintains repository of testing workpapers and corrective action plans.
- Writes reports or presentations that clearly articulate the results and conclusions of
compliance review activities.
- Discusses and reviews all potential test findings with Compliance management.
- Prepares monthly status reports, action plans and timelines, as needed for discussion with the Compliance FIU Regional Investigations Lead, the Head of The FIU or the Chief Compliance Officer.
- Other job-related duties as assigned by Compliance FIU Regional Investigations Lead
Required qualifications:
- 4+ years anti-money laundering, financial crime, law enforcement, or
investigative experience.
- Proven knowledge of U.S. and international anti-money laundering (“ AML ”)
and sanctions regulations and guidance such as the Bank Secrecy Act
(“BSA ”), FinCEN Customer Due Diligence (“CDD”) Rule, US Patriot Act, and The Office of
Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Deep understanding and comprehension of virtual currencies and blockchain analysis
- Advanced research and analytical skills, business acumen, strategic and
creative thinking, strong project leadership skills and multitasking
capabilities.
- Expert oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to
communicate complex information accurately, clearly and quickly to all
levels of management.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and
dynamic financial services environment.
- Display a high level of professional judgment, commitment, integrity, and teamwork.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to positively influence teams through a
climate of change.
- Results oriented with the ability to identify the long-term effects of
decisions/solutions on customers and the business.
- Proficient in the use of the Google suite of applications.
