Overview Axal is a network of verifiable agents that fulfill general actions via intent marketplaces. From crypto portfolio management to end-to-end travel booking, any combination of tasks can be fulfilled instantly from a simple natural language or programmatic request. Axal handles intent delegation to agents through competitive orderflow auctions, verifies agent actions, and coordinates/recommends future intents. LLMs/search enable universal information retrieval. Axal powers universal task execution: minimal cost, custom flows, zero counterparty risk.
Team & Current Usage Axal is led by Harvard CS and HBS alums, former employees at AWS and SIG, developers who studied under Yann LeCun, and a YouTuber who interviewed John McAfee (1M+ views). Raised $2.5M from CMT Digital, a16z Crypto Startup School, Escape Velocity, and angels (Rok Kopp from EtherFi, Rushi Manche from Movement, Austin King from Omni, Jansen Teng from Virtuals). Axal’s first app, Autopilot, is a Robinhood-esque onchain trading platform powered by smart agents automating custom index exposure, yield, copy trading, and rebalancing.
The team launched Gekko Agent to improve distribution for Autopilot and offer text-based interactions, peaking at a $40M market cap in early January 2025 (terminal). Both have gone viral (Gekko announcement, Fundraise/Autopilot announcement).
What we're looking for Axal is seeking an exceptional founding crypto-experienced engineer to maintain our traditional backend architecture and develop smart contracts/onchain data tools.
Responsibilities
- Building and interacting with web2 and web3 APIs, backend databases and servers for coordinating requests.
- Owning the development of contracts, overseeing any necessary auditing processes and building off of best-in-class public contracts/protocols (UniswapX, Across architecture).
- Innovating on intent standards, possibly collaborating with others protocols or leveraging existing ones.
- Thinking through our onchain and decentralization roadmap - optimistic verification, ZK-coprocessors for data feeds into contracts, validator design.
- Shipping fast, usable code with a focus on iterative growth rather than in-depth sprints.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in engineering roles at web3 organizations involving production-level development OR exceptional internships/projects.
- A decent understanding of the tech described above (not brand new to concepts like intents, have done previous onchain data work, etc.).
- Familiar with Solidity, Rust, Go, and/or other popular web3 frameworks. Comfortable with traditional backend languages, tools, and DevOps work (Python, Django, Postgres, AWS, Celery, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Rust, Go).
