About the role
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our data lakes and data pipelines. You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our data infrastructure while implementing automation and observability best practices. This role focuses on enabling seamless data processing and analytics by optimizing storage, compute resources, and deployment pipelines.
Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure & Automation: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure for data lakes and data pipelines, ensuring scalability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
- Observability & Monitoring: Implement and manage observability solutions using New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry to track performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of data infrastructure.
- Storage & Compute Management: Optimize and maintain storage solutions and ensure compute resources are efficiently managed.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure robust data governance, encryption, and access control at the infrastructure level to maintain security and compliance best practices.
- Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Manage infrastructure using Terraform, Atlantis, and Kubernetes, and streamline deployments with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
- Incident Management & On-Call Support: Handle on-call responsibilities, incident response, and disaster recovery planning for data infrastructure.
- Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with data engineers, data analysts, and platform team to provide a highly available and resilient data infrastructure.
- Team Building: Help foster a strong engineering culture that values automation, efficiency, and reliability in data infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Deep experience managing and building with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Cloudflare)
- Experience with Kubernetes and adjacent technologies (Istio, Helm Charts) for managing data workloads
- Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Atlantis)
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines for automating infrastructure deployments (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
- Expertise in observability and monitoring tools (New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Hands-on experience with Go and Python for infrastructure automation
- Expertise in implementing SRE principles to maintain high availability and resilience in data platforms
- Experience with incident handling, on-call responsibilities, and disaster recovery for data infrastructure
- Knowledge of data warehouse solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) is a plus, but no direct data handling is required
