DescriptionStarkWare is looking for a Cloud FinOps Specialist to take ownership of our cloud cost management strategy, drive financial optimization initiatives, and collaborate across teams to maximize the operational efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.
The person in this position will be responsible for leading the FinOps domain at a technical level within the company. The role involves analyzing cloud usage, generating business insights, forecasting expenses, and implementing optimization solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of technical and financial analytics expertise, working closely with engineering, finance, and product teams to improve cost visibility, predict future expenses, and ensure cloud investments align with business objectives.Key Responsibilities
Cloud Cost Visibility & Reporting
- Develop dashboards and reports to track cloud spending trends, identify inefficiencies, and highlight cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement real-time monitoring and alerts to detect cost anomalies.
- Educate internal teams on cloud cost factors through documentation and training sessions.
Optimization & Cost-Saving Recommendations
- Analyze cloud expenditures, identify waste, and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization (e.g., resource rightsizing, Reserved Instances, autoscaling, serverless solutions).
- Collaborate with DevOps, engineering, and finance teams to implement cost-saving strategies.
- Define and track KPIs to measure FinOps success and impact.
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Work with finance teams to forecast cloud expenses and align spending with business goals.
- Evaluate pricing models, discount programs, and cost-saving opportunities from cloud providers.
- Continuously assess and improve cost governance policies.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a FinOps, cloud cost management, or related role.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing (AWS, GCP), including pricing models and cost optimization strategies.
- Experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing, FinOps platforms like CloudHealth or Cloudability).
- Ability to analyze large datasets and present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, finance, and operations teams.
- Experience with scripting and automation (Python, SQL, or similar).
- FinOps certification and a relevant degree is a plus.
