About the Role Concrete is on a mission to redefine capital markets infrastructure through cutting-edge on-chain derivatives and protocol architecture. We’re seeking a highly experienced Senior Solidity Engineer (or VP of Engineering, depending on seniority fit) to join our remote-first team. This is a pivotal leadership role within our smart contract engineering group, working alongside the Chief Protocol Officer, Engineering Manager, and cross-functional product leaders to build next-generation EVM-based DeFi infrastructure. The team comes from established protocols, hedge funds, and market makers, and is backed by Polychain, Van Eck, Binance, Selini, Hashed, and others.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as one of the primary owners of Solidity development within a high-performing team of 6 smart contract engineers.
- Architect, develop, and optimize secure, gas-efficient smart contracts powering Concrete’s DeFi protocol.
- Contribute to protocol design, audits, and security reviews with deep technical ownership.
- Collaborate with product and project managers to align technical deliverables with roadmap priorities.
- Drive the evolution of Concrete’s on-chain architecture, with potential to scale across multiple chains.
- Stay ahead of developments in the Ethereum ecosystem and contribute to open-source efforts as relevant.
Requirements
- 3–4+ years of professional experience writing secure Solidity smart contracts.
- Proven engineering background within an EVM-based DeFi protocol.
- Strong understanding of smart contract testing, deployment frameworks, and upgradeability patterns.
- Familiar with Solidity optimization, gas cost analysis, and safe architectural practices.
Nice to haves
- Experience with cross-chain architectures, L2s, and bridging protocols.
- Technical familiarity with DeFi primitives such as vaults, lending markets, interest rate modeling, and asset management.
- Prior leadership experience or desire to grow into a VP-level technical leadership role.
