Position Summary
Grayscale is seeking a Director, Protocol Relations to oversee and operationalize the firm’s protocol relationships across the crypto ecosystem. This role creates organization, continuity, and momentum across all protocol engagements, from early conversations to live products and ensures that partnerships move from alignment to execution smoothly.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Product & Research and with the Research team, helping convert high-potential opportunities into well-run products. The right candidate brings both operational discipline and commercial instinct: organized enough to keep a complex pipeline running cleanly, and savvy enough to represent Grayscale credibly in protocol-facing interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Protocol Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with protocol teams as the primary day-to-day contact.
- Protocol Stewardship & Organization: Maintain clear records of discussions, decisions, owners, and due dates; keep calendars and deliverables current.
- Post-Investment Coordination: Lead execution once an investment or product decision is made. Manage timelines, document flow, and stakeholder communication across internal teams (Legal/Compliance, Capital Markets, Marketing, Product) to bring initiatives to market efficiently.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as connective tissue between Research, Legal, Capital Markets, Marketing, and Product. Ensure the right people are looped in at the right times and that decisions are clearly documented and executed.
- Protocol Repository & Knowledge Management: In partnership with Research, maintain the living repository of all protocol relationships - those in exploration, under diligence, and already live - linking engagement history, investment theses, and product status.
- Operational Excellence & Documentation: Own the organization around meetings, notes, decisions, and follow-ups. Produce concise, accurate records that keep the team aligned and maintain institutional continuity.
- Strategic Engagement Support: Join select protocol and ecosystem calls to represent Grayscale with context and professionalism. Identify where deeper follow-ups or internal discussions are needed, and ensure opportunities stay warm and coordinated.
- Source of Truth Maintenance: Keep a single, well-structured record for each protocol - contacts, commitments, open items, milestones, investment thesis - so teams operate from the same page.
Prior Experience/Requirements:
- 7–10 years across crypto partnerships, protocol operations, product/program management, or digital-asset capital markets.
- Impeccable organizational skills: disciplined systems thinker who keeps complex moving parts aligned and documented with precision.
- Operational rigor: builds and maintains structured processes that keep multi-stakeholder projects on track.
- Judgment & integrity: knows when to represent, when to escalate, and how to protect commitments and confidentiality.
- Commercial fluency: engages external partners with credibility and tact; brings client-facing polish without needing to “sell.”
- Collaborative drive: thrives in cross-functional settings; communicates clearly, follows through reliably, and brings order to motion.
