The Derivative team is hiring for VP, Head of Futures.
Responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the futures business – which includes defining the strategy of Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE). You will own the full P&L of the business and make decisions that optimize its financial performance.
You must be adept at interpreting the ever-changing landscape of the capital markets landscape and defining CFE’s role in that. You must be visionary and bold.
This role will interface with multidisciplinary Cboe teams to identify opportunities for growth in the futures products and execute on those opportunities with clear KPIs based on business performance and corporate priorities. This position requires superb collaboration skills and a desire to work side by side with our options business leadership and clearing house.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Manage the critical ecosystem elements for CFE
- Evaluate and implement potential market structure changes and pricing strategies with an eye towards alignment with our options franchise
- Monitoring & report on; RPC/business mix, and other metrics
- Drive product innovation in close connection with Cboe Labs
- Define Product Distribution Strategy
- Guide existing futures product and distribution strategy alongside our global sales team
- Define business plans to expand the global use of Futures products
- Guide distribution strategy and bring new futures products to market
- Solicitation of liquidity providers
- Solicitation of end-user interest
- Economic analysis to include:
- Resident expert in futures market color & trend analysis, identify trading flow participants and usage changes
- Work with the Data & Analytics team to build Sigma dashboards showing real-time market analysis
- Monitor & report on industry market share & trends
- Competitive analysis within exchange space
- Product analysis; EMINI/MICROS, VSTOXX, SPIKES, etc.
The ideal candidate has:
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree such as MBA and or CFA a plus
- Demonstrated experience to fully understand the derivatives space which includes listed and OTC products (futures, options, ETPs, and other structures), strategies, market structure, connectivity, etc.
- Strong experience in, and up to date knowledge of, the evolving equity derivatives (listed and OTC) space globally, the key participants, and market infrastructure providers is a pre-requisite
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience to include managing a team with sales and business development experience at either a major derivatives Exchange, or sales and trading desk derived experience at an investment bank, proprietary trading firm, or buy-side asset management experience utilizing equity derivatives
- Must have the gravitas and knowledge to lead detailed discussions with bank sales and trading heads and decision makers, portfolio managers and dealing desks at asset managers and hedge funds, as well as traders and heads of business development at proprietary trading firms/market makers
- Must be a rapport builder willing to establish collaborative relationships within the firm as well as with a diverse external trading community client base; develop network of business and professional contacts; leverage business relationships to support goals
- Be results driven, highly organized and structured with outstanding ability to define a detailed business plan, balancing multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail, adjust to changes in priorities and situations, complete work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be able to interact in a professional manner with internal and external contacts; use tact and diplomacy; maintain confidentiality; appropriately handle and communicate controversial or sensitive information

Our pay ranges are determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, role, experience, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $212,500-$262,500. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time. If you live in one of the following areas or if you work in a Cboe office in the following areas, the range may be higher according to the geographic differentials listed below:
US Geographic Differentials:
- 110%: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA
- 115%: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA
- 120%: Boston MA, Washington DC
Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
