Head of Engineering
We're at a pivotal moment in our company's journey, poised for our next phase of growth.
To get there, we need to amplify what makes us special: our core innovation and technical vision. This is why we're looking for a Head of Engineering to join us.
This isn't a typical management role. You will be a strategic partner to our CTO, a "visionary" who is charting our long-term technical direction and leading our protocol-level R&D. Your role, in contrast, is to be the "executor"—the person who owns the "how," "when," and "who."
You will translate the CTO's vision into a concrete, executable roadmap, leading our talented engineering team to deliver with excellence.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will be split into two core areas:
People & Culture
- Lead with Empathy: You'll be the primary people leader for the engineering team. Take full ownership of their well-being, professional growth, and performance. You'll conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and compensation cycles in partnership with HR.
- Build an Elite Team: Drive the entire hiring process from start to finish, from defining roles with the CTO to managing the pipeline and creating a fantastic onboarding experience.
- Architect Our Culture: Intentionally design and scale our engineering culture. Codify our values and implement rituals that foster a high-ownership, remote-first environment.
Delivery & Process
- Execute the Roadmap: Translate the CTO's long-term vision into a concrete, quarterly plan with clear deliverables and objectives.
- Build the "Engineering Machine": Own and continuously improve the systems and processes that enable quality and velocity. This includes our CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, observability, and incident response.
Who You Are
We're looking for a unique leader who embodies a rare combination of technical depth, process discipline, and leadership finesse. You will have a track record that demonstrates you are:
- A Technical Gravitas Holder: You command immediate respect from core protocol engineers through your own demonstrable technical credibility. You have a deep, systems-level understanding of high-performance distributed systems and concurrency, and you can articulate architectural trade-offs.
- A Pragmatic Process Architect: You are a systems-thinker who institutionalizes reliability and quality through robust, lightweight processes. You have experience designing and scaling a CI/CD pipeline, implementing SLOs/SLIs, and adapting agile processes to a team's needs.
- A Servant Leader & Talent Magnet: You are a coach and a mentor whose primary function is to enable the success of the team and attract top talent. You can provide specific examples of mentoring engineers to promotion and have created or implemented a career ladder/skills matrix.
- A Founder's-Whisperer: You possess the emotional intelligence to partner with a founder and translate an abstract vision into a multi-quarter roadmap. You understand how to manage stakeholder expectations and can build a relationship of deep trust.
