About Somnia:
Web3 has created a new era of decentralized finance, democratizing financial access. However, it has fallen short in generating mass consumer applications and remains largely centered around finance. We believe blockchain technology is a cornerstone for the future of new, open Internet applications.
Today, there are limits to what you can build on-chain. Many factors constrain this, from the cost of running applications to the fundamental performance limitations of existing blockchains. We believe that new technologies can unlock a new class of real-time applications that normally must be built on Web2 foundations. Enabling these systems to be built on-chain will allow the free movement of businesses and users between online platforms, creating what we call a true virtual society.
We are building Somnia, a fast and cost-effective EVM-based blockchain, to achieve this. Somnia is a layer-one blockchain with full EVM compatibility, capable of processing over 1,000,000 transactions per second with sub-second latency and low fees. This will unlock a new wave of on-chain applications. Initially, we are focusing on gaming, metaverse, and social experiences. But we are not even 100% certain of what can be built with the technology we are creating.
Somnia is being developed by Somnia Foundation backed by Improbable, a British start-up that has been at the forefront of building virtual worlds for over a decade. Somnia received initial funding from MSquared, which raised $150 million in funding from a16z crypto, SoftBank, Mirana Ventures, CMT Digital, and SIG.
About the Role:
The Marketing Operations Manager is an operational leader responsible for optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing function. This role will own the marketing technology stack, drive data-driven decision-making, and ensure seamless execution of marketing campaigns to achieve growth and user acquisition goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manager with a strong ability to execute campaigns, collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and make informed decisions regarding posting strategies.
Requirements:
- Marketing operations expertise: Proven experience in a marketing operations role, demonstrating a strong understanding of marketing technology stacks, campaign management, and data-driven decision-making.
- Systems & technology ownership: Ability to own and optimise marketing technology platforms (e.g., Notion, campaign management, analytics, email automation). Experience designing and documenting repeatable processes for campaign execution.
- Data & reporting: Skilled in using Addressable to be able to target community building and maintaining dashboards to track campaign performance, spend, and ROI. Proficient in standardising reporting cadences and ensuring consistency in metrics definitions.
- Campaign management: Build targeted growth campaigns to attract new users and grow our community and beyond. Strong project management skills to oversee cross-functional campaign execution, including managing timelines, dependencies, and handoffs. Experience with asset libraries, brand compliance, and content calendars.
- Analytical thinker: Capable of making informed decisions regarding content posting and distribution strategies using data, utilising analytics to optimise performance and achieve marketing goals.
- Collaboration & communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage a team and collaborate effectively with internal teams, external agencies, contractors, and partners.
Other attributes:
- Web3/Crypto Marketing Experience: Familiarity with the web3, crypto, and preferably Layer 1 and Layer 2 ecosystems.
- Growth Marketing: Implement and optimise growth marketing campaigns to drive customer acquisition and retention.
- Gaming industry exposure: Experience within the gaming sector, particularly with an understanding of game economies and player acquisition strategies, is a plus.
