Nitra's mission is to build a more efficient healthcare system and the technology that makes it possible. Our goal is to provide an ecosystem of fintech and software solutions that help doctors better manage their practices, so they can have time back to focus on what matters to them most.
Nitra will offer physicians and medical clinics around the country cards, loans, accounts, payments, and expense management products they crucially need, in an all-in-one platform powered by machine learning technologies.
Nitra was created by unicorn founders who have successfully scaled to thousands of customers and exited $1B+ public offerings. They are joined by an ambitious and experienced team from American Express, Citi, PayPal, Capsule, Plaid, Bloomberg, Meta, Facebook, and Mastercard. The team is backed by some of the world’s leading VCs (Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, etc.) and is supported by an expert group of advisors including the cofounders of Square and Xendit, executives from Intuit, former Governors, White House senior staffers, and a co-founder of CityMD.
This position is located on-site in Taipei, Taiwan.
We're Looking For:
- A Director of Engineering to lead Nitra’s rapidly growing engineering organization. You will shape the technical direction, scale the team, and deliver robust fintech and healthcare technology products. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who thrives in startup environments, drives high-impact execution, and fosters a collaborative and mission-driven engineering culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team (20–50+).
- Establish best practices for architecture, system design, and technical excellence.
- Partner with Product and Design to ensure strategic alignment and timely delivery.
- Implement scalable processes that enable rapid development and high-quality releases.
- Hire, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent and future leaders.
- Provide technical direction on architectural decisions and system scalability.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation.
- Collaborate effectively across time zones, ensuring strong alignment with U.S.-based teams.
You have:
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing teams of 20+ engineers (ideally scaling to 50+).
- Proven experience as a hands-on engineer with strong system design expertise.
- Demonstrated success leading and scaling teams in fast-paced startup environments.
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to collaborate across geographies.
- Experience building engineering structure, mentoring leads, and driving organizational growth.
- Strong partnership skills with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Design, Executive).
- Willingness to work flexible hours to ensure alignment with global teams.
- Fintech, marketplace, or healthcare industry experience is a plus.
- A growth-oriented mindset with a focus on impact, adaptability, and results.
