We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized General Ledger (GL) Accountant to manage and oversee the integrity of our financial records and reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial entries, preparing management accounts, and providing guidance to the Accounts Payable (AP) function. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to process improvement and internal control.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the General Ledger (GL) and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial transactions across entities.
- Oversee and review AP entries, guiding AP executives on the correct use of GL accounts, cost centers, and accounting treatments in line with company policy and accounting standards.
- Review and manage amortization and accrual schedules, including prepayments, deferred income, and fixed asset depreciation, ensuring proper recognition and reconciliation.
- Support month-end and year-end closing, preparing comprehensive management accounts (MA) with supporting schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (e.g. bank, intercompany, prepaid, accruals) to maintain reporting integrity and audit readiness.
- Maintain and enhance SOPs for GL and AP processes, ensuring clear documentation, consistent controls, and scalability as the company grows.
- Collaborate with the AP team to improve invoice validation, payment workflows, and ERP postings while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Contribute to ERP optimization projects, including workflow design, data integrity checks, and automation initiatives.
- Perform periodic reviews of accounting entries to identify errors, risks, or control weaknesses, and propose corrective measures.
- Assist with audit preparation by maintaining well-organized supporting documentation and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with GST and other tax regulations, providing guidance and advisory support to Accounts Payable (AP) executives on related tax and compliance matters.
- Participate in finance-related projects to streamline reporting and enhance financial visibility across the organization.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA, etc.).
- Relevant accounting experience, preferably with exposure to GL or financial reporting functions.
- Experience in a Big 4 or similar environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical mindset.
- Proven ability to guide and support junior finance team members (e.g., AP executives).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a strong plus.
