About the Role
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to own the developer experience around Drift’s SDKs, integrations, and backend tooling. You’ll be building and improving our Rust and Python SDKs, empowering developers, market makers, and integrators to build on top of Drift seamlessly.
Responsibilities
- Own the development, maintenance, and support of Drift’s Rust and Python SDKs (driftpy and related libraries)
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to prioritize backend/devex projects and integrations
- Build developer tooling, examples, and documentation to make integration seamless for traders and partners
- Ensure SDKs are kept in sync with on-chain program changes and protocol upgrades
- Debug and resolve issues from external users (traders, MM, ecosystem partners) and internal developers
- Contribute to CI/CD processes, testing, and release workflows for SDKs
Requirements
- MUST HAVE: strong Rust and/or Python coding experience, with a focus on SDK or API development and design
- Experience building developer-facing tools, SDKs, or backend libraries
- Familiarity with blockchain or fintech systems; bonus if you’ve worked with Solana or DeFi protocols
- Comfortable communicating and supporting other engineers and external developers with SDK usage, debugging, and integration
- Understanding of integrations, CI/CD workflows, and how to build for reliability at scale
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and excited about developer experience
