About Hashgraph:
Hashgraph is a fast-growing software company committed to supporting, developing and servicing Hedera, an open source, proof-of-stake platform. Hedera is EVM-compatible and has been specifically built to meet the needs of enterprise and Web3 applications, which require speed, security, stability and sustainability. Hedera’s public network is governed by industry-leading organizations, spanning 11 sectors and 14 regions who oversee the development and direction of the decentralized platform.
About the role:
As a Developer Advocatefor Hashgraph, Americas, focusing on Climate and Sustainability, you will be at the forefront of Hedera’s latest developments and the broader Web3/blockchain ecosystem, focusing on climate-oriented (decentralized) applications and their development on Hedera effectively utilizing the Hedera Guardian and Hedera native services including the Hedera Consensus Service, Hedera Token Service, and Smart Contracts. You will empower developers, Hedera Council members, clients, and ecosystem partners to build innovative decentralized applications (dApps) on Hedera using the best-in-class tools and technologies focused on the most challenging issues in climate, including Scope 3 and value chain emissions accounting, carbon credit methodology digitalization, and enabling project finance to be correlated to activities enabled via Hedera Guardian digitized methodologies and applications across the Hedera network.
You'll provide deep technical expertise in web3 and climate-related architecture while staying current with the latest Web3 innovations and enterprise-grade solutions focusing on climate initiatives. You’ll act as a bridge between the developer community and Hedera’s core product, engineering teams, and Hedera ecosystem partners to improve the platform based on real-world feedback from smart contract developers. You will support projects contributing to environmental goals, such as carbon offset tracking, tokenization of renewable energy credits, and other climate finance applications on the public ledger.
Your work will play a vital role in architecting and driving the adoption of decentralized tools for sustainability, enabling organizations to meet their ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) objectives through innovative blockchain technology.
You may find yourself doing all of the following:
- Guiding developers in building applications on Hedera using the Guardian platform for sustainable projects, such as carbon tracking and tokenization of environmental assets
- Developing and guiding users to develop digitized and open-source methodologies based on Standards for the voluntary and compliance carbon markets, GHG emissions tracking, and ESG/NDC reporting frameworks, among other natural capital assets
- Advocating for using blockchain technology to tackle climate challenges, focusing on climate finance and environmental sustainability
- Contributing to the architecture and design of the Guardian platform, ensuring continuous competitiveness of the platform in climate finance
- Working closely with developers to debug and optimizing their projects, providing hands-on support where needed
- Developing proofs of concept (PoCs), sample dApps, and smart contracts to showcase Hedera’s capabilities, focusing on EVM-compatible tools and Hedera native services, especially concerning climate finance and the Hedera Guardian ecosystem
- Serving as a Hedera expert, guiding developers in building decentralized applications, tokens, and smart contracts using Solidity and native Hedera services
- Staying updated on the latest blockchain and smart contract development trends and share this knowledge internally and externally
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to contribute to Hedera Improvement Proposals (HIPs) to enhance the developer experience, especially for smart contract development
- Participating in and recording educational content (e.g., podcasts, video tutorials) to showcase smart contract use cases and best practices for Web3 development
- Actively engaging with the developer community across multiple channels (online forums, conferences, hackathons) to support and inspire smart contract developers
Qualification Requirements:
- A strong understanding of blockchain protocols, Web3 APIs, bridges, oracles, custodians, and overall dApp architecture
- Passion for sustainability, deeply interested in using blockchain technology to address climate change and other environmental challenges
- Strong understanding of climate finance, including carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, and environmental markets
- Understanding ESG reporting frameworks and how blockchain can support transparency and trust in environmental initiatives
- Problem-solving abilities in debugging smart contracts and dApps built using Solidity or other blockchain-specific languages
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to act with high autonomy and direction
Other skills that are great to bring with you but that we can help you develop:
- Proficiency in Solidity and experience developing smart contracts on Ethereum or other EVM-compatible blockchains
- Knowledge and proven experience in Hedera native services, such as Hedera Token Service and Hedera Consensus Service
- Experience working on blockchain projects related to sustainability or climate action
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with the Hedera Guardian platform and its applications in sustainability
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks and how decentralized solutions can support compliance and innovation in the sustainability space
- Active contributor to developer communities, GitHub repositories, or open-source projects related to Web3
- Active involvement in climate-focused developer communities or open-source projects
- Experience in technical writing, particularly blog posts, documentation, or tutorials
- Public speaking and presentation skills to inspire developers through talks, demos, and live coding sessions
- A deep network within the Web3/blockchain ecosystem, especially among developers working with Solidity and smart contracts
