Role:
As part of Strike’s small legal team, you will help shape the legal, product, and business strategy for an innovative fintech company. We’re seeking an attorney with financial services, product counseling, and/or in-house tech company experience. This cross-functional role blends product, regulatory, and commercial counsel responsibilities, and reports directly to the General Counsel.
Responsibilities:
- Integrate with a range of internal teams, including the Executive, Product, Business, Engineering and Data Science, Compliance, CX, Comms, and Marketing teams, to provide full product counseling through the product lifecycle – from ideation to product launch, on-going operation, and sunsetting.
- Navigate a complex regulatory and commercial landscape and advise the company on how to design and launch innovative products and services in various jurisdictions.
- Lead negotiations around key commercial agreements from a variety of domains.
- Manage and optimize engagement with outside counsel in the U.S. and international jurisdictions.
- Research novel legal questions and have the ability to get up to speed on issues that may fall outside of your natural area of expertise; when outside counsel is needed, manage and optimize engagement and distill guidance into clear action steps for internal clients.
- Help drive Strike’s regulatory engagement strategy, manage incoming regulatory matters, and assist in Strike’s process of obtaining additional licensing.
Requirements:
- Bitcoin maxi and a strong interest in Strike
- 4+ years of legal experience
- JD from a top law school (or foreign equivalent) and currently licensed in a U.S. state or relevant foreign jurisdiction
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong track record of effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders
- Keen attention to detail and organization
- Experience in drafting and negotiating agreements, and counseling product teams in launching financial services or technology products.
- Strong project management, analytical, and legal research skills.
- Comfortable with constructive friction, risk-adjusted analysis, and creative problem solving.
Nice-to-haves:
- At least one of the following work experiences:
- Top law firm or state or federal clerkships
- Financial regulator at the state or federal level
- In-house legal teams at technology companies (ideally fintech)
- Experience with:
- Cryptocurrency or payments space
- International expansion
- Privacy
- Partnering with outside counsel in international contexts
- Commercial relationships relevant to fintech
US-Based Positions:
- Salary range: $170-190k. The actual salary will be determined using location and experience based data.
