As a Regulatory Compliance and Policy Lead (EU), you’ll be responsible for handling all matters related to regulatory compliance including regulatory policies and procedures, regulatory reporting and horizon scanning. The successful candidate will ensure that the company's governance framework complies with all regulatory requirements; and will lead the enhancement and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls in line with any regulatory changes.

What you'll do
- Work closely with the Head of EU Policy to further develop all applicable regulatory policies and procedures impacting Bitstamp Europe, ensuring these are fit for purpose, meeting regulatory requirements and are updated and maintained, and delivering continuous improvement of the Compliance framework for Bitstamp Europe.
- Work collaboratively with the Compliance teams across US, EU, and Asia to ensure standardized and consistent approach to Bitstamp Compliance globally and develop solutions to mitigate regulatory risks.
- Work with the Head of EU Policy on the implementation of a global methodology for the annual risk assessment exercise and perform the annual risk assessment exercise for Bitstamp Europe.
- Enhance and refine the Financial Crime Risk Appetite Statements and Key Risk Indicators.
- Continuous horizon scanning on all regulatory changes that may impact Bitstamp Europe, ensuring new changes impacting the business are effectively reported to management and the Board. Work collaboratively with the global legal team to assess their impact and required controls.
- Work closely with the MiCA implementation team to implement relevant regulatory compliance obligations
- Maintain regulatory correspondence log.
- Oversee the accurate and comprehensive periodic regulatory reporting to CSSF on all regulatory matters and handle the effective regulatory engagement with CSSF on Compliance topics as the business and regulator requires.
- Work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer of Bitstamp Europe to ensure that all regional policy requirements pertaining to Compliance and Financial Crime are addressed.
- Ensure that an effective Compliance training program is in place that meets regulatory requirements for the EU team and the Board of Directors.
- An ambassador for Compliance at Bitstamp.
On day one you'll bring
- Around 4 years of relevant experience in the Regulatory Compliance division of regulated financial institution (ideally crypto, banking, payments or e-money) as part of the second line of defense.
- Prior experience within the crypto industry is a strong plus but not required. However, a demonstrable interest in the sector is necessary.
- High level of understanding of all applicable CSSF regulatory frameworks impacting the business that is commensurate with the seniority of the role. Knowledge of the Compliance environment and relevant emerging trends in the EU region.
- Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information and distil into readily comprehensible and practical advice relevant to the commercial, strategic and financial context, applying a risk-based approach to development of business solutions and decision-making. Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach by finding different ways to look at problems and design novel solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Autonomous, pro-active and hands-on with the ability to prioritise and manage own work effectively, apply a breadth of technical, business, product and customer domain knowledge, own the outcome and make an impact.
- Used to working in a diverse, international, fast-moving business and fast evolving regulatory environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent knowledge of English language (written and verbal).
- Relevant Compliance certifications or recognized professional certifications in Compliance.
