Location Overview
Our offices are located in the prestigious Symphony Offices in the heart of Amsterdam’s financial district. Offering nearly 360-degree views of the city, the workspace is filled with natural light, thanks to spacious floor-to-ceiling windows. The modern layout provides a comfortable and inspiring environment for work, with a well-designed breakout area for informal meetings and relaxation.
The building also features a restaurant on the ground floor, making it convenient for meals and client lunches. With excellent transportation links, the office is easily accessible—just under a 20-minute journey from Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal.
Role Overview
The Python Software Engineer at Cboe will help build and expand the batch functionality of the largest equities exchange in Europe. We are firm believers in the value of testable, maintainable code and software craftsmanship; that approach has helped us become the largest equities exchange in Europe and we need another talented individual to help us continue to innovate and lead the market.
In this role you’ll be responsible for
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the Cboe Rulebook,
- Participant Manual, the Market Abuse Regulation and the various strategies used to commit market abuse.
- Design and build highly reliable, highly testable Python batch systems to support Cboe Europe’s trading operations.
- Provide operational support for Cboe Europe’s trading systems.
- Work closely with our business development and sales teams to develop innovative new products and features for our exchanges.
- Participate in various R&D projects to identify and implement promising new technologies.
- Participate in a global software development team
The ideal candidate has
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working within the financial industry, with knowledge of surveillance tools and market abuse regulation desirable.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a quantitative or finance related subject preferred.
- Technical Proficiency - experience of working with large data sets across a variety of data-exploration and data-visualisation software applications.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills including how to take a structured approach to investigating potential anomalies and assemble evidence to support a conclusion Numeracy – a grasp of statistics that would support data-investigation.
- Excellent communication skills – the ability to speak and write with clarity and impact, with keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent teamwork skills; able to work effectively individually and collaboratively in a team, to develop relationships (internally and externally), and to identify opportunity for change and challenge appropriately.
- Good interpersonal skills; creates and develops relationships both internally and externally.
- Accountable, organised, methodical, flexible and able to follow up findings in an efficient and thorough manner.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
You’ll really stand out with
- A good understanding of the European securities industry/capital markets Highly preferred:
- Experience with TDD, BDD or other testing methodologies
- Preferred: Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Django, or Pandas Preferred: Familiarity with Microservices Architecture
- Preferred: Familiarity with the development of REST API services
- Preferred: Familiarity with event-driven architecture, message queues, or event-streaming Preferred: Familiarity with Cloud Technologies
- Preferred: Familiarity with C or C++.
- Preferred: Experience in one or more relevant financial areas (market data, order management, algorithmic trading, financial systems integration, compliance, etc.)
