ABOUT CLEARMATICS
Clearmatics is a blockchain protocol engineering company that builds decentralised financial market infrastructures that are more open, efficient, and resilient than those serving legacy market structures of today.
We have a bold vision for this new market infrastructure - enabling market participants to solve currently unaddressed problems of the real economy, including “missing markets” problems. We aim to achieve our vision through technologies that allow peer-to-peer trading and settlement within new markets, and with digital assets whose values track real-world risk factors that currently have no suitable expression in legacy markets.
No matter the nature of a risk factor, whether macro-economic or relating to real-world metrics such as climate data, our mission is to make important risk factors tradable; by anyone, anywhere, without reliance on financial intermediaries. Clearmatics was founded in 2015, and we have ever since been committed advocates of Open Source development, and active participants in the blockchain and cryptography research communities. We’ve also been an active participant and supporter of decentralized infrastructure initiatives.
We’re growing our team and are looking for a Blockchain QA Engineer to join us and become part of our journey.
Our stack is Ethereum-like, so familiarity with – and passion for – the space is key.
Some of the areas we tackle include blockchain infrastructure optimized for financial use-cases, protocols for specific applications (such as smart contract-based derivatives, synthetic assets, cryptocurrency stabilization, …), scalability and privacy through cryptography (zkSNARKs, multiparty computation, private transactions/assets).
Currently the Clearmatics team is heavily involved as the Launch Partner for the Autonity Project. Autonity is an EVM based public blockchain for decentralised derivatives clearing. You can learn more about the Autonity project and its ongoing testnet games through the links below.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Blockchain QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our blockchain technologies, including Go node clients and Solidity protocol contracts. This position demands a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about groundbreaking blockchain technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies and test plans to ensure high-quality releases.
- Reproduce, log, and track bugs and vulnerabilities, providing detailed reports and ensuring they are addressed.
- Design and execute blockchain simulations with a large number of distributed nodes to test scalability and robustness.
- Monitor mainnet operational metrics to identify and escalate potential issues promptly.
- Ensure rigorous performance standards for the blockchain client to prevent regressions.
- Collaborate with community members to gather diagnostics and resolve issues effectively.
- Manage and triage GitHub issues, ensuring they contain sufficient information for resolution.
- Oversee the test infrastructure and continuous integration (CI) systems to streamline testing processes.
- Analyze test results, logs, and metrics to refine software performance continually.
- Ensure all technical documentation is complete and accurate, enhancing user understanding and experience.
REQUIREMENTS
- A detail-oriented approach with a knack for problem-solving.
- Proactive in learning and adapting to new technologies and environments.
- Strong proficiency in QA methodologies, including end-to-end and performance testing.
- Experience in testing distributed systems, particularly layer 1 blockchains and microservices.
- Familiarity with network fundamentals and transport layer protocols.
- Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python or JavaScript) to automate tests and processes.
- Solid understanding of operating system concepts and the impact of resource constraints on system performance.
- Comfortable with Linux environments and the Linux command-line interface.
- Experience provisioning and maintaining cloud services such as AWS EC2, Google GCE, etc.
- Excellent written communication skills in English.
FURTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Ability to read and understand Golang code.
- Knowledge of Ethereum protocols and familiarity with EVM and Layer 1 blockchains.
- A robust understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including consensus algorithms.
- Experience with infrastructure deployment and automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
