We are looking for a Technical Writing Lead to join the Midnight Foundation’s Developer Relations team and elevate our developer documentation into a world-class ecosystem resource for onboarding, activation, and long-term adoption.
Midnight is a regulatory-friendly, data protection–focused blockchain designed for real-world applications. It safeguards sensitive commercial and personal data using zero-knowledge proofs and a privacy-first programming model. Documentation is a critical part of that mission. Clear, accurate, developer-first content is core infrastructure for the entire builder journey, from onboarding to advanced application development.
In this role, you’ll own the strategy, execution, and quality of all developer-facing content. You will lead the technical writing function, providing direction and quality oversight across internal and external contributors as needed, while working hands-on as the primary writer.
You will collaborate closely with DevRel Engineers, the Developer Educator, Product, and Engineering, and ensure our documentation keeps pace with network releases and developer needs. Your work will directly shape how developers learn Midnight, how fast they become productive, and how confidently they ship.
- Deliver accurate, timely, developer-first documentation across the entire builder journey.
- Build and enforce documentation standards that scale across the ecosystem.
- Ensure documentation evolves alongside the network, SDKs, example DApps, and tooling.
- Translate complex concepts into clear, actionable, production-oriented guidance.
- Integrate documentation with Academy, Quests, hackathons, and community programs.
- Create feedback loops that capture developer pain points and drive continuous improvement.
Documentation Strategy and Leadership
- Lead the technical writing function for Developer Relations, owning strategy, quality, and execution.
- Work hands-on as the primary writer while providing guidance and review for the Developer Educator and any contracted writers or agency partners.
- Establish documentation standards, templates, and style guides that scale with Midnight’s ecosystem.
- Build light-weight processes for intake, review, versioning, and publication to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
Content Creation and Maintenance
- Produce and maintain Midnight’s developer docs, including conceptual docs, tutorials, guides, upgrade notes, SDK/API documentation, and example DApp READMEs.
- Collaborate with DevRel Engineers and the Developer Educator to turn example DApps, hackathon learnings, and educational content into polished developer documentation.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to ensure all documentation launches alongside features, breaking changes, and network releases.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with DevRel, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Solutions to ensure consistent messaging and strong developer experience.
- Collaborate with Shielded Technologies to maintain clarity around SDKs and developer tooling.
- Support internal release readiness by producing clear change logs, migration guides, and developer-facing announcements.
Developer Experience and Feedback Loops
- Use our existing feedback channels across Discord, the Forum, GitHub, hackathons, and surveys to gather insights and work with DevRel and Engineering to prioritize improvements to documentation and developer experience.
- Continually refine documentation flow, navigation, and clarity based on real-world developer pain points.
- Track documentation impact and usage metrics to drive improvements.
Governance and Quality
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, regulatory sensitivity, and compliance where applicable.
- Ensure documentation supports scalable ecosystem growth and reflects best-in-class developer practices.
- Track and report on documentation impact, usage analytics, and developer experience improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Communications, Technical Writing) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a technical writer or technical writing lead, including managing writers and driving documentation strategy.
- Strong understanding of developer workflows, APIs, and modern documentation tooling.
- Comfortable writing about programming concepts, smart contracts, and Web3.
- Proficiency in Markdown, Git, Docusaurus, version control workflows, and developer documentation platforms.
- Experience with APIs, SDKs, and example-driven documentation.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to work across product, engineering, and DevRel.
- Clear, concise, developer-centric writing style with deep attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple documentation streams and deliver high-quality work on tight timelines.
- Ability to gather information from engineering teams, specs, and subject-matter experts.
- Strong project management and prioritization skills.
