About Paxos
Paxos is on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal.
As a Product Manager for Crypto Brokerage, you will help build the next generation of our trading and execution capabilities, contributing to institutional‑grade systems that power billions in crypto trading volume across partners and end users. You bring strong trading and market‑structure experience but operate as a broad, product‑oriented generalist who can flex across discovery, execution, and go‑to‑market for our brokerage platform.
About the role
In this role, you will contribute to the core trading experience and execution layer of Paxos Crypto Brokerage, including order management, routing, and liquidity, with guidance from senior product leaders. You will work at the intersection of trading, market structure, and infrastructure, collaborating with engineering, quant/market‑structure specialists, and external liquidity venues to support best‑execution for our partners and their customers. You will balance depth in trading and execution with broad product ownership, working across multiple problem areas instead of a single, highly specialized niche.
You will take complex trading concepts—smart order routing, liquidity aggregation, execution quality, and risk controls—and help translate them into robust, scalable products that abstract away complexity behind simple, reliable APIs and partner workflows, while also leading more general product discovery, prioritization, and go‑to‑market work across Crypto Brokerage.
What you’ll do
- Own key areas of the Crypto Brokerage platform, combining domain depth in trading and execution with broad product responsibilities across discovery, roadmap, and delivery.
- Drive general product work such as problem discovery, customer research, hypothesis definition, and prioritization, not just trading‑engine features.
- Design and refine order and execution flows (price discovery, order types, routing logic, slippage controls, risk limits) to deliver high‑quality execution for partner order flow, in close partnership with senior PMs and Engineering.
- Contribute to smart order routing and liquidity‑aggregation capabilities across execution venues and liquidity sources, helping balance execution quality, latency, fees, and risk.
- Translate the needs of exchanges, brokerages, fintechs, and other partners into clear API contracts, workflows, and configuration surfaces for your area of ownership.
- Partner closely with Engineering to design and deliver low‑latency, high‑reliability trading systems, including matching, routing, and risk engines; participate in technical design discussions and trade‑off decisions for your initiatives.
- Work with Market Operations, Risk, and Compliance to implement guardrails (credit limits, position limits, exposure controls, kill‑switches) and ensure products meet regulatory and operational requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Define and monitor key performance and quality metrics for your product area (e.g., execution quality vs. benchmarks, fill rates, rejection rates, latency, system availability) and use data to drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct ongoing market and competitive research on crypto market structure, centralized exchanges, prime‑brokerage offerings, liquidity providers, and adjacent brokerage experiences to inform a holistic product roadmap, not just execution‑layer capabilities.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Sales on high‑value partner opportunities, contributing to technical solutions and helping articulate Paxos’ execution and liquidity value proposition.
- Develop and deepen subject‑matter expertise on crypto trading and execution, educating cross‑functional teammates on venues, order types, liquidity models, and market‑microstructure considerations for your products.
- Collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Go‑to‑Market teams to shape end‑to‑end partner and end‑user experiences, bringing a generalist product mindset informed by your trading background.
About you
- 4–6+ years of Product Management experience shipping backend or platform products, with meaningful exposure to trading, execution, or market‑infrastructure in crypto or traditional finance.
- You are a product generalist with strong trading literacy: comfortable diving into execution details when needed, but equally at home in customer discovery, prioritization, and cross‑functional delivery.
- Hands‑on experience building or owning components of trading systems, such as algorithmic trading platforms, smart order routing and liquidity aggregation, or execution and risk engines for a broker, exchange, or market maker.
- Solid understanding of trading and execution in crypto spot markets (venue microstructure, order books, fees/rebates, liquidity tiers, latency and reliability considerations), with a strong desire to deepen expertise.
- Experience working with trading desks, quant/market‑making teams, or institutional clients on execution quality and routing strategies.
- Strong technical acumen and experience with API‑driven, backend, or platform products; comfortable discussing system design, latency, throughput, and resiliency with engineers for your domain.
- Experience working with Legal, Compliance, and Risk in a regulated environment, ideally in or adjacent to a financial institution or regulated crypto platform.
- Highly analytical and data‑driven; able to define metrics, work with large datasets, and partner with data/quant teams to evaluate execution quality and performance.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex trading concepts to non‑experts and align cross‑functional stakeholders on priorities and trade‑offs.
Nice to have
- Experience at a crypto exchange, prime broker, or institutional trading platform building core trading, routing, or risk capabilities.
- Background working with crypto market makers or electronic trading firms, or collaborating closely with those teams on routing and execution.
- Familiarity with derivatives or margin trading, and the implications for spot liquidity, risk management, and product design.
- Experience at a B2B or white‑label infrastructure provider serving large fintechs, banks, or brokerages via APIs.
