As a Tax Manager at CoinFlip, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all tax-related functions adhere to federal, state, and international regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cryptocurrency taxation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will work closely with various departments to optimize tax strategies and support the company's financial goals. Your expertise will contribute to the overall financial health and regulatory compliance of the organization. In this role, you will report to the CFO.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement global tax planning strategies and ensure tax compliance with external tax advisors and internal finance team
- Manage relationships with US and international tax advisors
- Proactively communicate with internal team and with external tax advisors on filing requirements, amounts and due dates of tax payments
- Liaison with business leaders and country managers to ensure compliance with tax law and provide timely delivery of information and materials to the company’s tax advisors
- Manage audits in connection with external tax advisors and internal finance team
- Work on tax impact of various business activities, including financings, to aid in tax efficient business decisions
- Aid in the development and implementation of transfer pricing policies together with the company’s tax advisors, transfer pricing advisor and auditor
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- JD or CPA certification strongly preferred. An LL.M in taxation is a plus
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in tax at a law firm, accounting firm, or equivalent amount of corporate in-house tax experience
- Experience with US international tax
- Excellent research, analytical, writing and verbal communication skills
- A strong sense of ownership and attention to detail
- Ability to correspond with & facilitate strong working relationships with non-US service teams/BDO, including project management, providing clear direction & holding teams accountable for expectations.
- Establishing protocols and company policies around FATCA compliance.
- Experience with Forms 8858, 8865, 8938 & FinCEN Form 114 & related US filing obligations
- Familiarity with intercompany documentation requirements, including global transfer policy rules & regulations
- Experience with withholding obligations & related US filing obligations related to US source income paid to non-US persons/entities
