About the Role
As a Compliance Manager at Talos, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling a forward-thinking compliance function that aligns with our growth and innovation. This is a high-impact position where you will not only develop and implement compliance frameworks but also influence product roadmaps and international expansion strategies.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—ranging from product and engineering to legal and client services—helping embed compliance into cutting-edge fintech and crypto solutions. Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, this role offers significant opportunities for professional growth. You’ll stay at the forefront of fintech and crypto regulations, engage with global regulators, and attend leading industry events—positioning yourself as a key voice in shaping compliance policies in an evolving market.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic Compliance Operations: Design and scale the compliance department, aligning staffing, processes, and technologies with Talos’s growth.
- Compliance Framework & Training: Develop policies, procedures, and accountability measures while delivering training programs to foster a strong compliance culture.
- Regulatory Strategy & Guidance: Work with leadership to anticipate regulatory changes (SEC, CFTC, ESMA, etc.) and position compliance as a strategic advantage.
- Compliance Controls & Trade Surveillance: Oversee trade surveillance, market manipulation controls, and integrate broader compliance measures like data protection and conflict-of-interest policies.
- Vendor & Client Engagement: Manage relationships with third-party compliance vendors and serve as a key compliance advisor to clients, reinforcing trust and credibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Embed compliance into product design, service offerings, and enterprise risk management through partnerships with internal teams.
- Global Compliance & Industry Engagement: Participate in industry forums, network with regulators, and shape Talos’s regulatory strategy with a global perspective.
Qualifications
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: FINRA licenses (Series 24, 27) or broker-dealer framework expertise is beneficial but not required.
- Industry Experience: 5–10+ years in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within financial services, fintech, or crypto industries.
- Compliance Leadership: Proven ability to build or scale compliance teams, systems, and strategic programs.
- Global Regulatory Expertise: Familiarity with SEC, CIMA, MiCA, and crypto-focused regulatory environments is highly preferred.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to develop compliance frameworks that drive long-term business success and regulatory alignment.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Skilled at handling multiple initiatives, mentoring junior staff, and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Communication & Diplomacy: Exceptional ability to educate, negotiate, and collaborate with internal teams and external regulators.
