SDF Events team aims to create unique and memorable experiences that align with our marketing and company objectives to attract new business partners and developers to build on Stellar, nurture its existing ecosystem, showcase its growing number of products, and create stronger brand awareness in a constantly evolving industry. As a Director of Events, you’ll be part of the Marketing team reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer. You’ll lead the events team and leverage your expertise in the industry to align with the company’s objectives, create and maintain strong internal and external relationships, and drive engagement and pipeline. You’ll build, plan, and execute SDF’s global events strategy and will focus on both third-party conferences and proprietary events. This is a high-impact role where you and your team will contribute to making events a core part of our marketing strategy.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced event marketing leader who can create, develop, and execute strategic, audience-centric experiences and programs that drive tangible business impacts.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and mentor the events team
- Build a strategic event plan year on year that aligns with business goals and measurable pipeline growth targets
- Craft and lead high impact event programming with Communications, Product Marketing, Ecosystem, and Business Development teams that delivers thought leadership, showcases production innovation, and builds community through high-value content
- Own and manage the full event marketing lifecycle, working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and strategic alignment, drive pre-event promotion, in-event engagement, and post-event follow up and lead generation for maximum impact
- Define and track event KPIs to measure impact, engagement, and ROI. Use post-event insights, including attendee engagement and feedback, to optimize future programs and improve performance
- Refine and scale event processes and playbooks to ensure operational consistency, efficiency, and high quality execution across all event formats
- Manage and evolve the event tech stack to support data-driven approach, while overseeing external agencies and production partners to ensure brand alignment and strong ROI
- Have a love of travel and be willing to be out in the field with the flexibility to attend global events on a regular basis
You have:
- 10+ years of related corporate and field marketing experience leading and producing high impact events in a B2B environment, including bespoke, experiential, and white-glove events
- Experience managing a team of event professionals
- A strong track record of owning and executing both global large-scale and intimate events–from flagship conferences to executive programs
- Previous sponsorship experience working on small and large user conferences and sponsorships
- Excellent project management and organization skills including the ability to think strategically while also managing multiple projects and day-to-day operational tasks simultaneously in sometimes very short turnaround time
- Self-starter with solid leadership skills and the ability to actively lead and drive cross-functional teams
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, aligned with SDF’s values
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to see the big picture while executing flawlessly on details
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves on projects
- Fluency in latest event platforms and marketing tech, including Bizzabo, Zoom Webinars, HubSpot, Luma, and more
- Industry knowledge is preferred
We offer competitive pay with a base salary range for this position of $180,000-$305,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, we offer lumen-denominated grants along with the following perks and benefits.
