About Us 🚀
Immutable is the world’s fastest-growing game platform, built to power the next generation of games. We aim to drive the next evolution of gaming, combining performance, digital ownership and cutting-edge technology to help games grow and succeed. At the intersection of AI-driven analytics, high-performance growth tools, and seamless digital ownership, our technology helps studios attract, engage, and scale player communities across both Web2 and Web3.
Founded in 2018, Immutable is one of Australia’s fastest companies to reach unicorn status, raising more than AUD $400M+ with a valuation of AUD $3.5B. Today, more than 700 games are building on Immutable, and industry leaders like Ubisoft have chosen us as their partner for the future of gaming.
Over 6 million players use Immutable Passport, our unified identity enabling frictionless cross-game experiences, and our Immutable Audience platform has become the fastest-growing SaaS product line in our history. We're scaling rapidly, backed by a global team of creators, engineers, and gamers united by one mission: to build the most valuable growth layer in gaming and redefine how games launch, scale, and succeed. 🚀
About The Role 🤔:
Immutable is looking for an experienced, commercially sharp and proactive Senior Legal Counsel - Product & Regulatory to join our Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team.
This role will serve as a key legal partner to the business, driving the full spectrum of regulatory and product advisory work, including privacy, financial services, AML/CTF, online safety, AI, and other emerging legal requirements that affect Immutable’s products and go-to-market activities. You’ll work closely with senior leadership across Product, Engineering, Commercial, Growth and People to help Immutable move quickly while staying thoughtful, responsible and aligned with its regulatory obligations.
This role is best suited to a lawyer who can operate with autonomy, judgement and pace. Someone who can translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice that helps non-legal teams understand what they can do, what they can’t do, and what needs to happen next.
The role is ideally Sydney-based and will work closely with senior leaders across the business.
You'll Be Empowered To 🎮:
Own all privacy workstreams relating to the collection, use and storage of data, associated policies and procedures and advising on product design, marketing consents, data sharing and privacy risk management as it relates to Immutable’s products and activities.
Advise on regulatory issues, including financial services regulation, payments and stored value, digital assets, AML/CTF, sanctions compliance, online safety, AI laws and other regulations relevant to Immutable’s technology and products. Where relevant, support the implementation of appropriate controls.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Growth and Commercial to assess legal and regulatory risk early in the product development process.
Where applicable, help the business prepare for regulatory change by identifying areas of impact early and preparing clear, actionable plans in response.
Support product and marketing compliance, including customer-facing content, lifecycle communications, campaign activity and platform related comms.
Help monitor and report on Immutable’s key risk dashboard.
Deliver concise advice for non-legal stakeholders, with a focus on available options, decisions and next steps rather than long-form memos.
Instruct and manage external counsel where required, including scoping work, managing timelines and supporting budget discipline.
Maximise the efficiency of the LRC function through leveraging AI, templates, playbooks, self-serve guidance, checklists and lightweight legal processes.
Build strong internal relationships and become a trusted business partner who can influence senior stakeholders on sound, practical legal outcomes.
We'd Love You To Bring 🤝:
-
5 to 10 years PQE, with an Australian practising certificate and the ability to advise on Australian legal and regulatory requirements.
-
Strong privacy experience, including product privacy, data protection, consent, customer communications, marketing consent, privacy by design, cross-border data issues and privacy risk management. An understanding of both the Australian privacy framework and GDPR is desirable.
-
Experience advising on financial services regulatory matters, including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, AML/CTF laws, digital assets regulation, sanctions compliance, payments and online safety.
-
Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and timelines while maintaining high-quality legal outcomes and the rapid product development of products. Ideally, you have experience working with product and engineering teams in a technology environment.
-
Prior in-house experience in a scale-up, fintech, technology company or regulated business where autonomy, judgement and speed were required.
-
Exposure to risk and compliance workstreams.
-
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
-
A track record of turning complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, commercial and usable advice.

A collaborative style that works well in a lean legal team where people need to flex across specialist and generalist work.
Bonus Points For ✅:
-
Experience advising on blockchain adjacent products, Web3, gaming, consumer platforms or emerging technology regulation.
-
Experience building scalable legal support, including templates, internal guidance, approval frameworks, playbooks or legal intake processes.
-
Experience using lightweight automation, AI tools or legal operations processes to improve how legal support is delivered.
