As an Engineering Manager at Koinly, you will play a pivotal role in managing and mentoring a talented team of developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software. You’ll foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence while maintaining a hands-on approach to development.
Responsibilities
- Have regular one-on-ones with developers to help them grow, share feedback, and work through any challenges.
- Be a mentor and guide for the team, making sure everyone is aligned with our goals and following good practices.
- Run agile meetings like sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to keep projects on track.
- Keep everyone in the loop by sharing clear updates on project progress, risks, and timelines.
- Look for ways to improve how the team works, making processes smoother, quality better, and everyone happier.
- Roll up your sleeves and code about 20% of the time, contributing to key projects, reviewing code or building POCs.
Requirements
- You’ve got experience as an Engineering Manager or a similar leadership role in software development.
- You know agile inside and out and have led scrum teams before.
- You’re great at managing projects and can juggle competing priorities like a pro.
- You’re comfortable getting hands-on with coding and know your way around modern programming languages and frameworks (bonus points for Ruby!).
- You’re a creative problem solver who loves coming up with innovative solutions.
- You’re a strong communicator and great at working with different teams.
- If you’re into crypto, fintech, or cutting-edge tech, that’s a huge plus!

We launched the first version of our platform in 2019 and have since grown to over 1.5M users by solving a highly technical problem and saving our users countless hours of work (see what our customers say). Our team is based in Europe so we try to work in the UK timezone but are flexible on the work timings. Everyone is expected to work 40 hours and no more. We highly value people that can prioritise their work, know what tools to use to work efficiently and can set up processes to amplify the impact of their time.
What to expect in your first month
This is the most decisive part of your tenure at Koinly. You will be assessed on your technical skills and how quickly you are able to become operational. A good benchmark is to try Koinly out yourself, if you have a hard time understanding what it does then things will not get any easier. After all, we expect our users to be able to do their taxes with Koinly in under 20 minutes. An interest in crypto (beyond just bitcoin) is a major advantage.
