Your mission
As Compliance Officer (UK) with the Bitpanda Group, you will play a key role in shaping the future of regulatory compliance across the organisation, ensuring adherence to UK and EU standards, particularly in the crypto space. Collaborating with a skilled and dedicated team of compliance professionals from Bitpanda’s regulated entities across Europe, you will take ownership of key regulatory projects, contribute to strategic initiatives, and help shape a robust and innovative compliance culture within the organisation, particularly in the UK.
What You’ll do
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Manage adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, with a particular focus on UK legislative requirements for crypto-asset service providers.
- Monitoring and Risk Management: Conduct compliance risk assessments, identify focus areas, develop targeted action plans to mitigate risks effectively, and report results to senior management and the board.
- Compliance Programme Management: Design, update and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures and procedures to remain aligned with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Training: Design and deliver tailored compliance training for staff, and lead guidance and awareness initiatives, to promote a robust compliance culture across the organisation.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a strategic contact for department heads, senior management and the board to drive alignment and ensure group-wide compliance and operational success, especially for the potential UK market.
- Compliance-Driven Innovation: Align product development with regulatory standards, balancing client needs with compliance requirements to maintain a state-of-the-art compliance regime. Represent Bitpanda in industry forums, regulatory discussions and public events.
- Regulatory Authorities Liaison: Engage directly with the UK FCA and other regulatory authorities, and respond to inquiries, consultations and audits promptly and comprehensively.
Who you are
- Regulatory and Industry Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge UK and EU legislation applicable to crypto-asset businesses, including MiCA and the UK MLRs, securities and fintech firms, including MiFID II and FSMA, and Payment/E-Money institutions, including PSD2 and UK EMR. Good working understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, including the FCA's Handbook and the financial promotions regime, particularly as it applies in a crypto context.
- Crypto Passion and Technical Insight: Enthusiastic about crypto and fintech innovation, with relevant experience in compliance, audit, or consultancy within financial services or regulated environments. Familiarity with emerging technologies and regulatory challenges in the crypto sector. Experience in a technical crypto or fintech industry role preferred, including exposure to common compliance tools in the crypto space such as Chainalysis and SumSub.
- Experience of Working Cross-Border: Proven ability to manage compliance programmes spanning multiple jurisdictions, particularly the EU and the UK. Experience of regulatory regimes in MENA and APAC is desirable. Experience of international expansion efforts, including securing licences and registrations in various jurisdictions.
- Educational and Professional Qualifications: University degree or equivalent level of education in a relevant field, complemented by compliance certifications such as CAMS or ICA.
- Core Competencies: Team-oriented, organised, resilient, and committed, with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks confidently.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential, proficiency in German would be advantageous.
