We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution offering a wide range of efficient and transparent investment products, such as stocks and ETFs in nominal, portfolio, and fractional form. We’re based in Berlin but are also open to hiring remotely in Germany or Estonia for this role. If you're currently based elsewhere but would like to move to Germany, we’re happy to support your relocation.
Your mission:
As a strategic advisor within the Finance team, you will drive tax planning and optimization while ensuring compliance with corporate income taxes, VAT, payroll taxes, transfer pricing regulations and UK taxes. Your expertise will guide the team in implementing effective tax strategies and shaping processes that support accurate reporting and informed decision-making.
In this role, you will refine efficient tax processes, establish robust controls, and navigate complex tax landscapes with a proactive, innovative approach. We seek professionals who challenge the status quo, prioritize efficiency, uphold the highest standards of accuracy while applying pragmatism where needed.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
- Analyze the company’s tax position to identify opportunities for optimization and risk mitigation.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Management, Growth, People, and Finance teams on implementing effective tax structures aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation, submission, and payment of corporate income taxes, VAT, payroll taxes, transfer pricing documentation, UK taxes.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes to ensure proactive compliance and benefit realization.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls for tax processes, ensuring compliance with audit standards.
- Develop and maintain clear, detailed work instructions for all tax-related processes.
- Act as a point of contact for tax-related queries, including those from advisers, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare required documentation and workpapers to support audits and reviews.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to align tax compliance with broader accounting and business goals.
- Demonstrated interest in brokerage, trading, and wealth management, with a good understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.
Job requirements:
- Substantial work experience in relevant fields such as tax advisory or corporate taxes, or audit, with a focus on tax matters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax regulations, including corporate income taxes, VAT, payroll taxes and transfer pricing
- Knowledge of German capital gains taxes and/ or banking related taxes.
- Experience with tax compliance, planning, and strategy.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to simplify and explain complex concepts.
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the tax-related tasks and projects.
- Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all deliverables.
- Strong analytical skills to assess tax positions and identify opportunities for optimization and risk mitigation.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning, both personally and for the organization’s tax functions.
