Nym is at the forefront of privacy technology. With the upcoming launch of our flagship product, NymVPN, we are seeking a skilled and privacy-oriented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between development and research, innovate methods to securely store and process privacy-sensitive data, and contribute to Nym's mission of advancing privacy-preserving technologies, not limited to NymVPN.

In Your First Month, You Might:
- Assess and refine existing data storage solutions to ensure compliance with privacy standards.
- Develop and implement secure, reliable, and scalable methods for managing and storing data while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate closely with developers and researchers to align on data requirements.
- Build and maintain data collection systems to gather, clean and analyse data from the Nym network (e.g., network data, on-chain data).
- Explore and evaluate existing open-source frameworks and tools (e.g., for data storage, visualization, monitoring and integration) to identify the best fit for Nym’s data workflows.
- Present initial findings and gather feedback to enhance data processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a bridge between development and research teams to support data-driven decisions.
- Design and implement robust and secure data pipelines, storage solutions and ETL processes to collect process, and store data from various sources.
- Ensure data privacy and security compliance in all data processes.
- Ensure the integrity, scalability, and accessibility of data for internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and enforce data quality standards and governance practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across all workflows.
- Develop and maintain data access points to enable seamless integration and data usage by internal and external developers, adhering to best practices for security and privacy.
- Build and maintain dashboards for presenting insights to multiple stakeholders.
Key Experience:
- At least three years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.
- Strong understanding of data privacy principles and frameworks, including K-anonymity.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as SQLite and PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Redis, and tools like Grafana, Pocketbase, ClickHouse (a bonus) or similar tools.
- Experience with Rust or a willingness to learn is advantageous.
- Understanding of blockchain technology, working with on-chain data.
- Excellent communication skills to present data insights visually and verbally.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a privacy-first mindset.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
